I’m Derek Pfohl, a professional food and fine art photographer based in Syracuse, NY. With over 20 years in the food and hospitality industry, I bring a unique understanding of the culinary world to my work. Since launching my business in New York City in 2009, I’ve photographed for acclaimed chefs including Marc Forgione, Jacques Torres, and Danny Meyer, with features in The New York Times, USA Today, and Golf Digest. Trained under Joseph Moran in his New York portrait studio, I’ve built my career on combining technical precision with a passion for storytelling through food.
Alongside photography, I serve as Product Manager at Corso’s Cookies, leading product development while overseeing all creative direction, photography, and design. Inspired by the outdoors and my love of cooking, I strive to capture images that highlight both the artistry of food and the natural beauty surrounding it. Whether working locally or remotely with clients, my goal is always the same: to deliver striking, high-quality imagery that celebrates flavor, tradition, and craft.
